Wales Air Ambulance 8000th Mission

The Swansea based Red EC135 Air Ambulance has come to the rescue in its 8,000th mission.

The Wales Air Ambulance has been in operation for 11 years from the city’s Fairwood Hospital.

It first started as a five-day service, which was launched on St David’s Day in 2001.

The service has since expanded to having three helicopters Wales-wide which are on active duty seven days a week.

Paramedics were called out to attend a female patient who had been struck by a bus in Barry for its 8,000th mission.
